Treatment for yeast infection is quite easy and all you have to do is to confirm whether the infection is due to yeast so that you do not treat the wrong condition. Having a general overview of what yeast infection is goes a long way to help you understand it well. Yeast infection is caused by a fungus which is normally found in the body co existing peacefully with our system until it gets a chance to reproduce. Mostly, yeast is present on the skin, vagina and gut. The most common yeast infection in women is vaginal and it is also referred to as Candida vaginitis. General yeast infection is called candidiasis. There are very many factors that make the yeast cells reproduce drastically and in women and, they are mostly hormonal.
Hormonal changes will affect the acidity of the vagina and the yeast present will find it more favorable to reproduce. Pregnancy tops the list when it comes in changes in acidity of the vagina. Many women complain of itchy spells and the doctor will confirm that it is yeast. Treatment for yeast infection when this occurs, is to be taken with a lot of caution. There are anti fungal treatments especially oral ones that can harm the baby. Therefore, an expectant lady should never self medicate without having the knowledge of the risks involved. Mostly, they will be given some anti fungal creams to apply around the affected area in the vagina. They should make sure they follow through with the treatment until they are healed totally before delivery. Women who still have the yeast during child birth can pass the infection to the newborn.
Another cause for yeast infection in women due to hormonal changes is the use of birth control pills. The pills alter the natural functions of the body and this presents with an increased risk of getting yeast infections. Here, treatment for yeast infection is real simple and you have to consult your doctor about having another birth control method. There are very many other options to choose from and once you change, you will notice the difference. However, you have to go for the yeast medication to heal your symptoms first. Menstrual periods will cause hormonal changes and women will have to use treatment for yeast infection to get rid of it. Usually, the infections do not occur every month. They might occur once in a few months.
Menopause is also a factor and the treatment for yeast infection will be recommended by the doctor after taking into account several things about your medical history. The most common treatment for yeast infection is the modern kind and it involves the use of creams, ointments, tablets and pills which are all anti fungal. You can also go for treatments which are natural and they include the use of tea tree oil, honey, yogurt, vinegar and the list goes on. There are treatments that can do more harm than good and you therefore need to keep safety first. There is no doubt that when the itchy yeast attacks, you will boldly know how to fight back the yeast infection.
